OK. Day One. Here we have the train station where Jess successfully asked in Hungarian about trains to Vienna, and the post office where I sent the DVD to Ben in Hungarian too! (I tried to post it from Bristol airport but you can't as an anti-terrorism measure...). Then we crossed the bridge to climb one of the monuments on the skyline, because it was there.

Can you spot the face of John - who has decided to take a break from cigarettes for the holiday? The large bulding is the parliament - apparently the largest parliament building in Europe - so this is looking back from the Citadel on the Buda side towards Pest.

No comment. Our walk up the hill was rewarded with a very fine lunch, the wine a Hungarian Reisling was crisp and only 30p/glass! We were very restrained.

And finally back to the Hotel Gellert, thank you to Jen for this top tip, this was fabulous, if a little daunting.
